Olds Delta 88

Oldsmobile’s 88 series went by many names—- Delta 88, Beaumont 88, Delmont 88, Rocket88, Holiday 88, Jetstar 88, 88 Royale.

The series was produced from 1949 through 1999. The generation cut-offs were 1949-1953, 1954-1956, 1957-1958, 1959-1960, 1961-1964, 1965-1968, 1969-1970, 1971-1976, 1977-1985, 1986-1991 and 1992-1999.

In 1977, all fullsize GMs were downsized, yet were still very spacious. The ’86-up models were downsized yet again and made into front wheel drives, but still had full size cabins. These were powered by variants of the Buick 3.8L V6. All previous generations were rear wheel drive full-framed machines powered by varying sizes of V8s and a few 6-cylinders though the years.
